The Deanship of Student Affairs, represented by the Disability Support Unit, organized an interactive dialogue session with students with disabilities to discuss the key challenges they may encounter in the university environment and explore ways to enhance independence and academic and professional empowerment. The session forms part of the Deanship’s efforts to support students with disabilities and promote their active participation and inclusion in university life.
The session was presented by Dr. Salman Musa Al-Mughairy, providing students with an opportunity to share their experiences and express their academic and service-related needs. The discussion also addressed the main challenges and barriers they may encounter in the university environment, while exploring suggestions and solutions that could contribute to developing the services and accommodations provided to them.
The session also covered the university services and accommodations available to students with disabilities and their suitability to their needs, while strengthening direct communication between students and the University. This contributes to improving the quality and effectiveness of the services provided and ensuring that students’ needs are addressed more effectively.
The session witnessed active participation from the students, who shared their observations and suggestions for developing services and enhancing opportunities for participation and inclusion across various aspects of university life. These efforts aim to support their independence and promote their academic and professional empowerment.
The session comes as part of the Deanship of Student Affairs’ efforts to foster a supportive and inclusive university environment, listen to the needs of students with disabilities, and continuously develop services and accommodations that enhance their university experience and support their active participation in the university community.
