Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University strives to create an environment that motivates faculty members and students to actively contribute to development and progress, recognizing that excellence in research, innovation, and graduate studies is the foundation for achieving its strategic goals. As part of this vision, the university has launched numerous programs and initiatives to support researchers and students, aligning with the national priorities for research, development, and innovation in Saudi Arabia for the next two decades. These priorities were announced by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Research, Development, and Innovation.
The aim of these programs is to support high-quality scientific publications and raise the level of research output to meet global standards. They also seek to enhance the participation of the university community in research areas aligned with national priorities, which focus on four key areas: human health, environmental sustainability and basic needs, leadership in energy and industry, and the economies of the future. These efforts contribute to enhancing Saudi Arabia’s global competitiveness and leadership, in line with Vision 2030, reinforcing its position as the largest economy in the region. As a result, Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University has achieved advanced rankings in research, development, and innovation activities, becoming one of the top five Saudi universities in terms of research citations.
To further advance its innovations, the university has established the Center for Research and Development in Emerging and Advanced Technologies. This center aims to boost the university’s indicators for patents and high-quality scientific research, contribute to the creation of prototype products, and improve efficiency through optimal use of university facilities and laboratories. It also generates pioneering projects ready for support and incubation, and promotes a culture of research and development across the university and the region.
Additionally, the university has established a Technology Transfer Office, which seeks to transform innovations developed at the university into products and services with economic and social impact in the region. In support of the research, development, and innovation ecosystem, Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University organizes the annual University Forum for Research, Development, and Innovation through its Vice Presidency for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research. The forum aims to enrich and support this ecosystem, encouraging increased output that contributes to economic growth and national prosperity. The forum attracts leading experts and specialists in research, innovation, and intellectual property from Saudi Arabia and abroad.
