Under the patronage of H.E the Minister of Education, Mr. Youssef Al-Buniyan, PSAU organized "Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University Forum for Research, Development, and Innovation" titled "National Aspirations and Priorities for Global Competitiveness and Leadership," on Tuesday, 19th of Shawwal, 1444 AH, corresponding to May 9, 2023, on the main stage of the university in Al-Kharj.
The forum aims to enrich and support the research, development, and innovation system, encourage and increase its output, and achieve economic growth and national prosperity. The forum included a dialogue session on research and development in universities and its role in achieving national aspirations and priorities, presented by the Executive Director of Operations at the Research and Development Authority, Dr. Rami Niazi.
The forum also included two workshops with a number of experts and specialists to discuss the most prominent potentials and fundamental challenges related to achieving national aspirations in the research, development, and innovation sector. The first workshop, titled "Intellectual Property Rights in Universities," was presented by the Executive Director of Policies and Legislation at the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property, Mr. Saad Al-Asim. The second workshop, titled "Successful Transformation: Technology Transfer Management Strategies to Enhance Collaboration between Academic and Industrial Sectors," was presented by the Research and Development Center Director at Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University, Dr. Thamer Al-Maneef. The forum also witnessed the honoring of the research and innovation awards winners.
On the sidelines of the forum, the President of PSAU, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Talhi, launched the first phase of the Research and Development and Innovation Laboratory, which is equipped with the latest tools and services that align with the aspirations and expectations of the research and development and innovation sector to enhance the knowledge-based economy in the Kingdom.
This comes as a belief from the university in its pivotal role in supporting the research, development, and innovation sector, and spreading its culture in light of the scientific and technological developments that the Kingdom is currently witnessing, and ambitious national aspirations and priorities to develop society and improve the quality of life.
