Under the patronage of Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Asimi Rector of PSAU, Vice Rectorate of Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research organized a workshop titled “the future of Academic and Educational Cooperation between PSAU, UCI, and University of Quebec”. The workshop was held by the cooperation of Engineering College at PSAU and University of California Irvine UCI and the University of Quebec on the Engineering College Theater. It reviewed the past two years’ achievements.
The workshop began with verses from the Holy Quran followed by a speech delivered by Dr. Mohammad Al Kahtani Dean of Engineering College. He thanked Rector, Vices-Rector, and Deans for their attendance. Dr. Al Kahtani assured that the international cooperation programs insure skills and knowledge for the students, besides polishing and preparing his and the country’s future. These programs included many scientific researches and students’ projects that have a great impact on the participants from Engineering College and Computer Science and Engineering College. Dr. Al Kahtani asked the students to register in such programs in their first day of their academic life. He praised the role of Rector, the head and members of the standing committee of international cooperation.
Moreover, a presentation was delivered by Dr. Ahmad Tawiel about UCI followed by a presentation about the cooperation achievements between the three universities.
Moreover, Dr. Abdul Aziz Al Hammed Vice-Rector of Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research delivered a speech. He said that PSAU adopted a clear vision that seeks excellence in education and community knowledge. However, the Vice-Rectorate is working to fulfill this vision through a strategic plan. He added that the qualitative initiatives are shorting the time and invest the others experience effectively. The international cooperation with highly reputed educational institutions is an example of such initiatives. PSAU was aware of such initiative; therefore, it signed a number of service contracts with UCI and University of Quebec, along with other successful educational institutions.
Furthermore, Dr. Abdul Rahman AL Asimi Rector of PSAU delivered a speech expressing his delight regarding the outcome of the international cooperation agreements. He congratulated the students for their remarkable effort and he urged them to do their best. At the end of his speech, Rector congratulated members of Engineering College for acquiring the American international academic accreditation ABET. Also, he thanked Dean of the Engineering College, Dean-Vices and Faculties for their efforts. Then, Rector honored Dr. Osama Thafer former Dean of Engineering College, visiting delegation from UCI and the participant students in the international cooperation program.
Later on, the companioning gallery for students’ works during last summer was inaugurated. Rector has listened to a detailed brief about the projects executed in UCI and University of Quebec. However, the projects were supervised by elite professors from both universities. In addition, 30 students from Engineering College and Computer Science and Engineering College spent 10 weeks training included intensive English study, along with training and research programs.
On the second day, Dr. Tawiel and Dr. Fadi Qirdahi presented a workshop at the University City about UCI experiences in developing the educational process. The workshop witnessed the presences of Rector, his vices and colleges’ deans. The workshop discussed the development of faculties and their evaluation, besides the administrative experience that aided UCI. At the end of the workshop, Dr. Tawiel and Dr. Qirdahi answered the audience queries.
