College of Education at Al Kharj represented by Student Activity Unit held a unique meeting with Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Asimi Rector of PSAU. The meeting was held in the presence of Vices-Rector, faculties and students under the name (I was a Student). It focused on Rector’s educational life and his scientific march. In addition, Rector received the students’ queries about his life and the challenges that he faced, which enriched the meeting.
The meeting was begun by a speech delivered by Dr. Abdul Rahman Rafidi Vice-Dean of Education College. He welcomed Rector and the audience. Then, he praised the students’ activity at the college and the eagerness of the college administration to encourage the students on interaction and productivity. This meeting is one of the activities’ outcomes and a good motive for it. However, Rector is considered a good example of success and a model of patience and perseverance.
Furthermore, Dr. Mubarak Harbi from the Education College led the discussion by reviewing Rector’s educational march since his study in AL Kharj schools until his graduation from King Saud University with a Master Degree in Teaching Methods. Then, Rector got a Ph.D. grant in the same major at West-Virginia University in the USA.
Moreover, Rector started his speech by thanking the College of Education represented by its dean, vices-dean and members, besides the Student Activities Unit. Also, he thanked the College of Sciences and Humanities, and the Directorate of Public Relations for their hard work in this meeting and other activities.
Rector said that he was an ordinary student. He was keen to acquire education despite the resources gap between his and the current time. His life was distinguished by hard work and perseverance, besides the relation with Allah and with his parents. These factors had a great impact on his educational march. He added that he studied in a firm school and the students of this generation are not like his generation. Students of his generation they have many choices and chances while students of this generation have great challenges. Dr. Al Asimi differentiated between school and university education. School education focuses on grades and exams while university education focuses on the outcome quality. Then, he discussed a number of cases that haunt today’s student such as awe of dealing faculties and the university society. He clarified that in the past, the faculty has more ascendancy than nowadays. Today, there are many standards that govern the faculty and the student. He added that the academic stage is fundamental in the student’s life and educational march. This stage helps the student in his educational accumulation and in his post-graduation study. Moreover, the students asked Rector about scholarship experience and the obstacles that he faced during this experience such as the language and his children. Rector answered that his key to success was patience, hard work and perseverance.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Harbi thanked Rector on behalf of the college for this meeting and for being an example to the students.
