Within the continuous efforts to develop the services and to satisfy the university community’s demands, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Asimi Rector of SAU inaugurated a pack of new systems, projects, enhancements and e-services developed by the deanship. The e-pack was inaugurated on 18/4/1436H Corr. to 8/2/2015 at the University Council Hall. In addition, the inauguration was in the presence of Dr. Abdullah Jumaa Vice-Rector, Dr. Abdul Aziz Hammed Vice-Rector of Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, a number Deans and Members of Transaction Committee.
Dr. Mohammad Al Kahtani Dean of IT and Distance Learning began the meeting by delivering a presentation about the new systems, e-services, and infrastructure and e-learning and education technologies. Moreover, eight systems and e-services were launched to increase efficiency and to decrease the spent time and efforts.
The systems and services include the following:

Leave System: it enables faculty members and staff to file their leaves electronically to their direct manager and obtain their approval. It also counts days of leaves, besides that it is connected to the administrative and financial system.

Work Efficiency System: it convert the efficiency evaluation process from being written to be electronically processed.

Administrative Chart System: it creates an e-chart for the university’s staff. It also enables the university’s officials to adopt and approve the recommendations electronically. In addition, the system is able to proceed internal transfer in any time.

Collaborators Services: it enable members of the collaborators committee to adopt accredited hours for each collaborator faculty member in every semester either he was from the university or from out it. The system also enables head of departments and deans to follow up the works of the collaborator faculty member and registering actual working hours for him to accredit his payroll.

Disclaimer Letter Service: it reduces efforts and time required to obtain disclaimer letter, which is needed when by the employee on his termination, transfer or retirement.

System of Halls and Theaters Booking: The system aims to facilitate halls booking procedures. It is able to search for available hall according to a specific date and time, along with booking the hall and acquiring information about its data and booking status. It also able view the current and previous booking of a hall.

Services of Phone Devices: the system aims to enable the beneficiaries to obtain telephony services and devices through their coordinator.

The service of connecting a telephone with a visual communication app: the service enables coworkers to visually communicate with each other, along with texting. It also enable them to conduct and receive local and international phone calls.
Furthermore, Dr. Al Asimi inaugurated a number of service projects, after they were presented by Dr. Al Kahtani.
These projects are as follows:

The project of wireless network for the University City (first stage): this project provides its services through installing 619 wireless devices distributed in Community College, College of Sciences and Humanities, Engineering College, Applied Medical Sciences College and Faculty Housing, besides, facilities.

The project of education studios and smart halls: the project equipped 20 smart halls in female colleges. The halls include smart interactive board, projector, fully equipped data show. In addition, it implemented 11 educational studio prepared with all of the video conferences requirements such as document cameras, computer, and monitor. These equipment led to transmit lectures easily.

The project of visual conferences: the deanship installed 20 tele-video and audio conference devices in a number of meeting, theater, offices and training halls that found inside the university and require such mean of communication. As a result, there are 41 devices of such in the university.

The new portal of e-learning: this portal is integral with the third version of the university’s portal. It is connected with the training system to display any update in the training system. In addition it focuses on the awareness and training sides through providing training channels and resources directly. The portal contains abundant numbers of self-learning resources such as electronic and interactive guides.
Moreover, practical presentations were delivered about the services and systems usage, features and benefits. The presentation were delivered by some of the systems developer Mr. Walid Slatin, Mr. Abddulah Dumaikhi and Mr. Raed Harbi. Then Mr. Ghaleb Aboudi Networking Manager delivered a practical presentation about telephony services and visual communications through its connection to smartphones.
At the end of the meeting, Rector expressed pride in the e-services that delivered by the deanship. Then, he praised the deanship efforts headed by Dr. Al Kahtani to launch these new services that will fulfill the university’s plan toward e-transformation.
In addition, Dr. Mohammad Al Kahtani extended his thanks to Rector for his continuous support. Then, he thanked Vices-Rector, Deans and members of the transaction committee. He also extend a special thanks to Deanship of Faculty Members and Staff Affairs for their fruitful cooperation to accomplish many e-services.
