Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University, represented by the College of Education - Department of Special Education, signed a strategic partnership agreement with the Saudi Association for Hearing Impairment (Sameia)
The university was represented in signing the memorandum by Dean of the College of Education in Al-Kharj, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Rafdi, and on the authority of the Association’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Ali bin Muhammad Al-Halafi, on Wednesday 5/26/2021 at the Sumaya headquarters in Riyadh.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Vice Dean of the College of Education for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Mubarak bin Saad Al-Warrah, the Head of the Special Education Department of the College, Dr. Abdul Hadi bin Abdullah Al-Omari, and a number of members of the (Sameia) board.
The agreement aims to enhance cooperation and benefit from the capabilities of the Special Education Department in the field of studies, research, advisory, training, rehabilitative and educational services for deaf and hard of hearing persons, and for those who care, educate, train and rehabilitate them. The areas of cooperation included training in sign language and sign language translation. Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University is the first Saudi university to introduce the Saudi Sign Language course as an optional course available to all university students. It also recently launched a qualitative diploma in translation in sign language, which is classified by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.
