A number of Biology Department members in College of Sciences and Humanities at PSAU innovates new and fast method to dry Moringa leaves in the project of “Towards a Green University City”. The team represents Sarah Research Chair. The project was inaugurated by Rector before 11 months. The fruitful results came from the cooperation of Department of Operation and Maintenance (Supervisor of Towards a Green University City Project) and Sarah Alghonaim Research Chair for Researches.
This achievement satisfies the expectation of Rector regarding the importance to keep abreast of scientific research to the needs of society and to develop and implant the technology in processing Moringa Trees. Dr. Mahmoud Sharaf-Eldin Associated Professor in Biology Department Head of the Chair stated that the importance of this achievement came from the short time required to dry the leaves with keeping its unique green color. The new drying process requires only 95 seconds while the traditional way requires 2-3 days and the air drying method requires 1-3 hours inside the ovens.
