College of Computer Engineering and Sciences at PSAU won advanced places in the First National Programming Competition. The competition was held on the sideline of First National Conference on Computer and Information Colleges in Saudi Arabia. The college’s teams took the seventh and eighth place after competing with 39 teams form the kingdom universities. The conference was held under the patronage of the Rector of King Abdul Aziz University and a committee constituted from deans of the Computer and Information Colleges in Saudi Arabia.
It is worth mentioning, that the college of Computer Engineering and Sciences has prepared for this competition by holding an internal competition within the activities of the computer club. It was held under the sponsorship of Dr. Abdul Aziz Daej Vice-Dean. The eight winners of the internal competition were divided into two teams. Then, they made huge efforts and they were trained on some of the problems that they may face in the international competition. The training was supervised by Dr. Mohammad Hourat and a number of faculty members at the college. The college’s teams were formed as follows:
First team: Nayef Saleh, Hussein Otaibi, Mohammad Jamal, and Abdul Latif Yamni.
Second team: Mohammad Sumait, Raed Harbi, Badi Ammar, and Yaser Addosari.
Moreover, the students expressed their thanks and appreciation to the college’s administration and faculty members for their support and training.
Furthermore, Dr. Daej expressed his delight regarding the students’ results despite the short time of preparations. In addition, this competition was the first trail on the national scale. Also, he extended his thanks to Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Asimi Rector of PSAU for his support and the providing of students’ success elements in the competition, besides providing an ideal environment that trains the students and enables them to gain more skills and knowledge.
