In his opening statement to the Seventh of the Deans of Research and Consulting Services Institutions in Saudi Universities, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Asimi Rector of PSAU stressed on the importance of such institutions. These institutions are like the supportive arms to the universities and its windows on the community. Therefore, he asked to activate these institutions role, besides framing its work to accomplish its goals. Rector denoted to the importance of supporting, benefiting and marketing the successful experiences because it have excellent human resources that would serve the scientific research by training or providing consultation services. Then, Rector thanked the Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for its huge services to the Saudi universities. It is worth mentioning, that this event is organized by Prince Abdul Rahman bin Nasser Institution for Research and Consultation Services.
The meeting contained many remarkable activates that began by a session titled “Partnership, Social Responsibility and Successful Experiences Research and Consulting Services Institutions in Saudi Universities”. This session witnessed the delivery of work papers about the institutions’ achievements, expectations and role in serving local and international partnerships. The work papers were delivered by Consultation and Research Institute at King Abdul Aziz University, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, King Abdullah Institute for Research and Consulting Studies at King Saud University, and the Institute of Research and Consultation at Qassim University.
Furthermore, the second session was held under the title “the Social Responsibility of the Research and Consulting Services Institutions”. The session work papers were delivered by Prince Naif Institute for Research and Consulting Services at Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University, Research and Consultation Institute at King Faisal University, and Prince Abdul Rahman bin Nasser Institution for Research and Consultation Services at PSAU.
The third session focused on the institutions incomes and the way benefiting such incomes. It also witnessed the delivery of remarkable work papers thar were delivered by Development and Advisory Services Institute Princess Nora bint Abdul Rahman University, Research and Consultation Institute at the University of Umm Al-Qura, Research and Consultation Institute at the University of Taibah, and King Salman Institute for Studies and advisory services at Majma’a University.
In addition, the fourth and fifth session focused on the newly established institutions in its establishment phase. Each of the following institutions reviewed its successful experience: Research and Consultation Institutes at the University of Hail, King Khalid, Al-Baha, Tabuk, and Al-Jawf. Then, the activities were concluded by the closing statement and the meeting recommendations.
After the meeting sessions, a fruitful discussion was conducted. Then, Prince Nasser Institution extended his thanks and appreciations to the participant deans and representatives of the universities that have no institution. Prince Nasser Institution said that this meeting should positively affect the research and consultation institutions.
