Within its efforts to fulfill its vision toward excellence in supporting scientific research and publication and in cooperation with the General Administration of Research Grants in “KACST”, Deanship of Scientific Search organized a workshop about “KACST”.
The workshop began by verses from the holy Quran followed by a speech delivered by Dr. Saad Omran Dean of Scientific Search. He started his speech by welcoming the attendees. Then, he clarified that this workshop strengthen the universities partnership with public and privet sectors, especially “KACST”, which focuses on scientific research support. Further, Dr. Omran reviewed the deanship strategy that aims to achieve excellence in scientific research and publication support through providing an attractive research environment.
Furthermore, Dr. Omran denoted the deanship’s important initiatives during the past years that include seven supporting programs to scientific research and knowledge economy. The deanship also prepared the establishment project of special research centers and units, besides developing the scientific research criteria in the university.
Thereafter, Dr. Mohammad Khaimi Director of the General Administration of Grants clarified the grants programs of the administration and its conditions and funds. Moreover, a presentation was delivered about grants applying procedures. Then, he talked about scientific research ethics and the inconsistent practices with it. At the end of his presentation, Dr. Khaimi began a discussion with the attendees and answered their inquiries.
The activities of the workshop included on prizes draw for the first 100 user of the system of monitoring and follow-up scientific production, which is developed by the deanship incorporation with Deanship of IT and Distance Learning. The program aims to document all scientific productions of the university’s members such as patent, researchers prizes and the published scientific papers.
Moreover, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Asimi Rector of SAU received at his office members of the General Administration of Grants. The meeting was in the presence of Dr. Abdul Aziz Hammed Vice-Rector of Postgraduate Studies and Scientific research. During the meeting, Rector thanked the administration members for responding to the university’s invitation of holding this event, which archives one of the university’s main goals toward research fund diversity.
In this regard, Dr. Omran extended his thanks to Rector and Dr. Hammed, besides to Vices-Rector for their continuous support that led achieve a scientific research development in the university. He also thanked members of the General Administration of Grants for their efforts.
