Dr. Abdul Rahman Khudairi Vice-Rector of Educational and Academic Affairs inaugurated on 7/3/1436H a workshop titled “Course Plans Unification for Arabic and Islamic Study Programs”. It was held in Makarem Hotel in Riyadh. In addition, Dr. Aaid Shehri Head of Islamic Studies and Arabic Unit in the National Committee for Evaluation and Academic Accreditation was the workshop speaker that witnessed the attendance of number of Vice-Rectorate consultants, head of departments and faculty members.
Fr. Khudairi clarified that SAU represented by Vice-Rectorate of Educational and Academic Affairs has adopted the course plans unification for symmetric programs. SAU took this move because of its belief that the success of the academic teaching lies on accurate planning to the overall educational process and especially study programs. He denoted that in order to obtain a harmonizedoutput with what was adopted before; this workshop was held in coordination with the National Committee for Evaluation and Academic Accreditation.
However, Dr. Khalid Muhaidib Project Supervisor said that this unique workshop was consisted from three sessions named as follows; first session is about the required standards to create and develop a study plan. While, the second session is about the project of content standards for Islamic Studies Program, and the final one is to discuss the project of content standards for Arabic Language.
Dr. Shehri clarified the committee standards in building and developing study plans. He added that some of these standards are identifying the vacancies that are available for the students, clarifying the need of the program and setting the required outputs of the program. Then, Dr. Shehri spoke about the adoption procedure of the course plan and its relation with the standards. Moreover, he discussed the required applications and forms to build and develop a course plan.
At the end of workshop, Dr. Khudairi handed Dr. Shehri a gift. On the other hand, Dr. Muhaidib hand Dr. Khudairi a gift, which is number of publications that authored by the faculty members of Islamic Studies and Arabic Language programs
