The College of Pharmacy at Al-Seeh is a modern college whose opening, relatively speaking, has occurred in synchronization with the establishment of Al-Kharj University. On Saturday 11/1/1431 H the College of Pharmacy was the first to transfer to the new University Campus. Bearing to the best and most contemporary architectural designs, the college building has been erected on an area of 30,000 square meter and encompasses twenty-two teaching halls, five science laboratories, staff and faculty offices, in addition to offices for administrators. The number of enrolled students has amounted to ninety: seventy seven of them are in third level and thirteen in the fourth level.
The college of pharmacy consists of five administrative departments: College Deanship, Vice Deanship for Academic Affairs, Vice Deanship for Development and Quality Assurance, Personnel Administration and Student Affairs Administration. As far as the academic departments are concerned, the college includes the folowing departments: Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Drugs, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Clinical Pharmacology.
Basic to its vision, Al Kharj College of pharmacy aspires to be an elite educational and academic institute, with local and international extensions, offering an advanced academic level of pharmacy education reliable to serve the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Its mission is to be a distinguished maverick in teaching, research, and provisional services relevant to the practice of pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences, and to promote the skills of pharmaceutical-care providers, and to conduct scientific research that aim to enhance the acquired knowledge of health-care-provision teams. The most salient goals of the college are: to keep abreast with the global developments in pharmacy education, to promote the profession of pharmacy, and to enhance the level of pharmaceutical and health care services. It also aims to sustain the academic accreditation standards of the American Council for Pharmacy Education, and to produce pharmacists capable of investing knowledge and skills in integrating ideal pharmacological decisions with passion for life long learning.
As far as degrees are concerned, the college of pharmacy offers a "Bachelor in Pharmaceutical Sciences". Students can earn this degree after successfully completing 170 credit hours. Three hours are dedicated for graduation-research-project in the final year. Students may fulfill the degree requirements in five years. On the other hand, students can earn a Pharm-D degree after they have successfully completed 240 credit hours_ thirty of which are devoted for clinical hospital rotations in the final year. Requirements of Pharm-D degree can be completed in six years.
