
Program Overview:
This program aims to fulfill the university's mission of creating a distinguished academic research environment by supporting exceptional authorship and pioneering translations that enrich human knowledge.
Objectives:
- Contribute to the quality and advancement of scientific output at Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University.
- Enrich human knowledge with scholarly, original works and rigorous translations.
- Encourage and develop the skills of faculty members to actively contribute to the enrichment of human knowledge.
- Improve the quantity and quality of academic reference books in university disciplines.
- Preserve and benefit from manuscript heritage through careful and accurate investigation.
Duration:
- 18 months from the contract signing date, with the possibility of an additional extension of up to 6 months, provided that no extra financial entitlements result from the extension.
Conditions and Regulations:
- Only one book may be submitted: either for authorship or translation.
- The lead author/translator must be from Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University.
- At least 50% of the authors/translators must be from Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University.
- The proposed funding should not exceed 50,000 SAR. The Deanship of Scientific Research reserves the right to adjust the budget based on the review results.
- Authors/translators must adhere to academic integrity and ethics.
- The book's content must not contradict the religious, social, or political principles of the Kingdom.
- The book must not insult Islam or the Arabic language, either explicitly or implicitly.
- The book must not include offensive images or content against moral and social norms.
- Translated books must be of general benefit and must not have been previously translated.
- The book to be translated must have been published within the last five years, with exceptions allowed for important works upon the department council's recommendation.
- For books with multiple editions, only the latest edition should be translated.
- The documented plagiarism rate in the book or translated work must not exceed 25%.
- All authors/translators must agree to the university's publication of the book under the approved regulations and specify their contribution percentages.
- Approval from the university's Standing Committee for Curricula and Programs is required (if the book is a textbook).
- Images in the book must not exceed one-third of its content.
- For scientific, engineering, and computing books, equations, mathematical formulas, or computer programs must not exceed 50% of the book.
- The translator must be proficient in both the source and target languages.
Application Process:
The proposal must be submitted through the university’s Scientific Research System.
