Prof. Abdulaziz Al-Hamid Rector of PSAU adopted a new process for selecting the deans of colleges, institutes and support deanships in order to develop the administrative work at the university and involve its employees in the progress and leadership of the university locally and internationally.
Therefore, Rector issued a decision to create a permanent committee in the name of the Committee for the Nomination of Deans of Faculties, Institutes, and Supporting Deanships, which is concerned with the following:
Establishing a general framework for the required conditions and determining the differentiation elements among the applicants.
Determining the vacant deanships or expected to become vacant within at least three months.
Announcing all faculty members to submit their applications to run for these vacancies within the period specified in the announcement for those who meet the candidacy requirements.
Examining applicants' applications, verifying their eligibility to run for candidacy, and completing the reasons for candidacy.
- Evaluating the applicants ’applications according to the committee’s criteria and conducting a personal interview with them and differentiating between the applicants based on their leadership competence, academic qualifications, and administrative experience.
Submitting the final list to His Excellency the President of the University for presentation to the Higher Committee for the Selection of Leaders at the University.
Conditions for candidacy:
The candidate shall pass at least two years since his appointment at the university with the rank of assistant professor.
Practiced leadership works in or outside the university as a department head, deputy college, deanship, public administration, or current or former dean.
Present a work program compatible with the university’s strategic plan for the development of the candidate’s body.
Complete the nomination forms.
Nomination mechanism:
The faculty member who meets the nomination requirements has the right to submit an application that he wishes to run for the position of dean in one of the vacancies announced by e-mail to the Nominating Committee.
The Rector and the Vice-Rector to which the entity is affiliated- according to the structure of the university- has the right to present one or more candidates, then, the committee contacts the candidate to complete the candidacy justifications.
The current Dean is considered a candidate without applying for candidacy.
