PSAU launched its first central Data Science Club under the Student Affairs Deanship umbrella in an event held through the Blackboard program.
The inauguration event began with the Saudi national anthem followed by recitations from the Quran. The club's student leader, Shrouq Mohammed, delivered a presentation introducing the club and its advantages for both male and female students. She emphasized that the club aims to develop students' capabilities in the field of data science, raise awareness about its importance in society, and underscore the significance of data, its collection, analysis, and its role in decision-making and sustainable development. The club's structure was elucidated, and speeches from members of the executive committee from various specialties were presented. They unanimously agreed that data science has a strong connection with all fields of study, serving as a cornerstone and a bright spot in various disciplines.
Dr. Issa Al-Dosari, the Dean of Student Affairs, highlighted the importance of the club in enhancing students' capabilities in data science and raising awareness about its importance in society. He mentioned that the university supports all initiatives that contribute to developing students' skills and expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the club's executive committee for the successful inauguration event.
The inauguration event concluded with the announcement of the club's first initiative titled "Professional Development Pathways Initiative," in collaboration with the IBM Academy, which is open to all students and graduates of PSAU.
The launch of the Data Science Club is part of PSAU’s efforts, represented by the Student Affairs Deanship, to promote excellence in education and scientific research and to prepare a generation of students qualified to work in scientific and technological fields.
