On Tuesday, August 23, 2022, the University Vice Presidency for Educational and Academic Affairs held a meeting with faculty members, male and female students, under the patronage of the President of the University, Prof. Abdulrahman Al-Talhi. The meeting was about the approved study plans for the three semesters. It was held in the theater of the Faculty of Medicine at the University Campus in Al-Kharj.
The meeting began with a welcoming speech from the President of the University, in which he congratulated all the employees for the excellence recently achieved by the University by entering for the first time the Shanghai World University Rankings 2022, praising the integrative efforts between all administrative and academic departments. Al-Talhi pointed out the importance of the advantages of the university’s transition to the three-semester system, which contribute to acquiring more in-depth experiences, which is positively reflected in achieving better learning outcomes, in order to find qualified human outputs of high quality for the requirements of the current and future labor market, which contributes to achieving the vision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 2030. Al-Talhi stressed the need for faculty members to be prepared to work in the three-semester system to achieve the appropriate scientific content.
After that, a workshop was held to introduce the system and mechanism of transformation for the three semesters, which included a presentation on its definition and the positives and challenges of transformation. The workshop aims to introduce the three-semester system from an "academic point of view", and highlight the academic movement's proposals, the variables of the new academic term equations, and the changes required by each academic program in its specialization. Later on, the attendees received and answered their inquiries, and all the characteristics and topics related to the three-semester system were clarified.
It is noteworthy that the meeting witnessed a large group of university leaders, led by the university’s Vice President for educational and academic affairs, Prof. Mashari Al-Osaimi, the university’s Vice President for graduate studies and scientific research, Dr. Abdullah Addas, the general supervisor of public relations and media, the official spokesman of the university, Dr. Issa Al-Dosari, and the deans and vice-deans of colleges.
