“In reference to the Royal Decree that orders to change the university’s name and to Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Asimi Rector of PSAU directions, the Deanship of IT and Distance Learning begins procedures of changing the university’s domain. The deanship has booked the new domain that represent the new name of the university “PSAU” Prince Sattam bin Abdul Aziz University” Dr. Mohammad Al Kahtani Dean of IT and Distance Learning said.
Dr. Al Kahtani clarified that the domain name changing will include the domain name of the e-mailing service. Therefore, the deanship will begin the processes by a transitional process, whereas the new domain receives and sends e-mails “PSAU”. Moreover, the service of sending messages through the old domain will be stopped, while new messages that were sent to the old domain will be forwarded to the new on. The transition period will start on 4:00 pm Thursday 21, 5/2015 and ends on 1:00 pm Saturday 23, 5/2015.
Furthermore, Dr. Al Kahtani added that the forwarding processes will last for four months from the shifting date to the new domain to give a chance for all users to publish their new e-mail. However, the content of the old inbox will be saved for one month from the shifting date and it can be reached from the university’s website through “Old E-Mail” icon. In addition, Dr. Al Kahtani assured all the users that their old inbox content will be transferred to the new one after the shifting process. It is worth mentioning, that some or all of the old inbox content may not appear for some users during the shifting process.
At the end of his statement, Dr. Al Kahtani said that the deanship is waiting for the new logo of the university to apply it as a new identity for all the university’s websites and services.
