يركز الدكتور محمد ألطاف أحمد بحثه حاليًا على مجال تصميم وتكنولوجيا VLSI والأنظمة المدمجة. وقد نفذ بنجاح العديد من مشاريع المنح البحثية بدعم من عمادة البحث العلمي في جامعة الأمير سطام بن عبد العزيز في نفس المنطقة ونشر العديد من المقالات البحثية في المجلات الأكاديمية الرائدة. الدكتور محمد ألطاف مراجع زملاء لمجلات رفيعة المستوى مثل Journal of Circuits، Systems، and Computers؛ المجلة الدولية للإلكترونيات. المجلة الدولية للتكنولوجيا. و "معاملات IEEE على أنظمة VLSI ، وغيرها الكثير. وهو حائز على الميدالية الذهبية لدرجة الدكتوراه. وحصل على جائزة أفضل أطروحة. بصفتها كلية في الهندسة ، مسار بحث وتدريس ممتاز. وحدة منسق الجودة والتطوير ، مشارك نشط في اعتماد ABET لبرنامج هندسة الكمبيوتر.
